Update: Curt has now confirmed that Flosstradamus will continue following Josh’s departure, saying “the reports of Flosstradamus’s death have been greatly exaggerated. A movement does not stop when one of its founding fathers goes abroad – it only gets bigger! Flosstradamus will continue and I am excited to carry the torch. Josh will always be a part of the #HDYNATION and we wish him the best on his future endeavors.”

Flosstradamus will be opening 2017 by heading Down Under as part of FOMO festival, and it seems as though that will be the last time that Australian fans can catch the trailblazing Chicago duo in the live arena.

One half of the group, Josh Young, has announced that he will be leaving the group to pursue his solo project, Me2. “I came to this decision at the end of summer, but due to circumstances outside of my control I wasn’t able to make this announcement until after the Flosstradamus tour ended,” he said in a video posted to Instagram.

“I have so much love and respect for Curt and the whole Flosstradamus crew, everything they’ve done for our career, and most of all HDYNATION. Thank you guys for all the unforgettable amazing experiences we’ve shared together,” he continued.

As reported by Inthemix, Flosstradamus will continue on as exclusive headliners for FOMO in January.

The influence of Flosstradamus on the current state of electronic music cannot be underestimated: They were one of the biggest groups to bridge the gap between stadium-sized dance and trap music at the turn of the decade, and are credited with largely kicking off the movement with their landmark remix of Major Lazer’s ‘Original Don’.

We’re expecting their performances in January to be huge, especially after this latest sad news. See Josh’s announcement in full below:
