Flume is still riding high from his second album Skin, but the local breakout star is still releasing more material in 2016 and looking towards his next full-length.

Flume took to Facebook today to reveal the first taste of his upcoming Skin Companion EP, which consists of songs written around the same time as the album. He also said that it’ll be released this November exclusively on vinyl, and suggested that this will be the start of a series of EP releases.

“I’ve been overwhelmed by the support you guys have shown for Skin over the past few months and I wanted to share some more music that was written around the same time. The first Skin Companion EP is a 12″ of songs we are releasing in November. It will be available on vinyl at lots of great indie record stores around the world – Rough Trade, Phonica, Turntable Lab, Oye, Amoeba, Juno, Boomkat, Red Eye and many more,” he said. You can preview the EP right here:

While Skin was recently displayed live to Australian audiences on the grandest stage of them all – the closing Ampitheatre set of Splendour In The Grass – the Sydney producer recently revealed that he’s ‘bored’ of the project, only three months after its release. “Now that I’ve put Skin out, I’m like awesome! I’ve done my big, grandiose, clean record, with lots of big sawtooth sounds,” he said in an interview with Inthemix.

“Now I’m kind of bored of it, and I want to do lots of more sample-based stuff, like actual world sounds. So, like, maybe a vocal that’s been recorded and make it into a chord. I kinda want to go a little more lo-fi, I guess. But that’s how it works – you get excited about one thing, then you go to the opposite for a bit,” he continued.

As for his next record, Flume says that a little solo introspection and Mother Nature will be a big part of the writing process, saying “I’m gonna go to national parks, take my surfboard, by myself and just go surfing and write another album in that. That’s the plan.”

Let’s hope for the new material to be a part of Flume’s next headline tour this November, where he’ll be storming arenas with collaborator Vince Staples. In the meantime, get around some Skin favourites that have been on high rotation:
