When we’re at a festival, we get pretty mad when we have to queue for a bathroom for more than 30 seconds, and even madder when the gozeleme stand says they’ve run out of lemon. Therefore, we can completely understand why punters at Fyre Festival were distraught when they were stuck in the Bahamas with no accomodation, no bands, no luggage and sad looking sandwiches in styrofoam containers. Basically, it looked nothing like the picture above, or the luxury experience they were promised, and people were pissed.

So pissed, in fact, that organisers Billy McFarland and Ja Rule (who is presumably no longer ‘Livin It Up’) are facing a $100 million in lawsuits for the conundrum, while McFarland has also since been charged with fraud. Now, we’re set to get even more dirt from the festival, with Billboard, The Cinemart and Mic to produce a documentary series exploring the festival and ongoing investigations. Back in June, Mic was one of the first websites to share internal emails that showed Fyre executives were aware of the shitstorm that was about to unravel.
Accordingly, the currently unnamed series will draw from “thousands of emails from Fyre staff that foreshadowed its forthcoming downfall, material from attendees on the ground at the event site, news articles and investigative journalism.” Most importantly, the series promises to “expose what went wrong and who is to blame.” We can feel the finger-pointing!
You can read more about the Fyre Festival documentary via Billboard. There’s been no set date for the series, but in the meantime, have a look at this extremely accurate Halloween costume of a distressed Fyre Festival punter – running mascara, VIP wristband, sad sandwich and all. Standing ovation:
