Almost four years following the release of his breakthrough album SECT, elusive producer Golden Features has finally returned with new solo music…

Titled ‘Touch’, the new offering sees the Sydney maestro link up with UK singer-songwriter Rromarin for an electro-tinged bop that has an emphasis on the euphoric and psychedelic.

The soundscape Features crafts has traces of the signature bass and 808s that the veteran producer has become synonymous with, however, his layering of ember-like synths along with the hypnotic vocal editing is distinctly more lighthearted than 2018’s Sect, rather, harkening back to his 2020 album with ODESZA, BRONSON.

And of course, Rromarin’s vocal lines achieve a nice synchronicity with Features’ production, tapping into the raw and fiery parts of ‘Touch’ for a totally thrilling showcase in archaic energy. It’s nicely shown on the verses as her whisper-like utterances collide against the sonic textures with burning intensity.

Speaking on how the single was birthed into existence, the ‘Medicate’ producer explains, “Touch was born from that synth riff. I fought it for so long, feeling it was too happy and upbeat. After giving it some space I reharmonized everything under the riff and it instantly made me feel something. Claire (Rromarin) had actually recorded these vocals for another song on the record, but the lyrics just felt right for ‘Touch’”.
