It’s the band’s first new track in three years!

In times like these when we are often seeing the worst in people come out, it’s nice to know that artists around the world are still holding onto their morals and trying to bring positive change. Byron Bay dark lords In Hearts Wake are one of those acts, and today they’ve dropped a hard-hitting new single that allows fans to do their bit, simply by watching.

For every one thousand YouTube views that the band gets on ‘Worldwide Suicide’, they will plant a tree this upcoming spring. The track is a response to the bushfires and the ecological state of the world right now, which affected thousands of families over the summer and prompted a government response that has been widely criticised by environmental groups (and also everyone else TBH).

“The Antarctic has reached an all time high temperature of 20.7°C. The Australian bushfires have burned over 12 million hectares of land, killing over 1 billion animals. The Climate Crisis is pounding on our door and we need to take action while there is still a window to turn it around. It’s time for profound systemic change as individuals and as a community.” IHW’s Jake Taylor says.

“Last year I attended the NYC Climate strike and 300,000 passionate people showed up led by Greta Thunberg. It was the first time in a while that I felt so much hope for the future. When we gathered at Battery Park I felt inspired to pull out my voice recorder. Greta delivered an incredible speech. Some of the elders around me likened it to the time they heard Martin Luther King deliver his ‘I have a dream’ speech in the 60’s. One week later our track ‘Crisis’ was born.” Taylor adds.

Check the video out below. Hell, watch it a few times and let’s get some trees planted!
