Sydney indie-rock stars Holy Holy are ending the week with a treasure trove of dreams and feeling, unveiling their long-awaited new album Hello My Beautiful World.
The new offering sees the band dig deep with the backdrop of lockdown looming over, exploring the world beyond consciousness and the human condition through confessional lyrics and expansive production.
Speaking on the new record, the duo explain “We were given all the freedom in the world to do whatever we wanted, and this is what we did. The songs dwell in the details of living. Dreams are a theme. Dreams you have when you’re sleeping. Not the dreams you come up with when you’re awake. Not a series of desires.
“Dreams where you have no control, and you scare yourself.”
Along with the new album comes the release of a special rendition of ‘The Aftergone’ featuring Sydney sibling duo Clews. The video sees the two acts get their inner lockdown musicians on, duetting over zoom with Holy Holy guitarist Oscar Dawson accompanying them on guitar. It’s almost like we’re sitting in a recording session with the two acts, watching them trade lyrical offerings in their respective abodes.
Definitely a big day for the Sydney band. Be sure to buy/stream Hello My Beautiful World here and check out the stripped back version of ‘The Aftergone’ ft. Clews.
