We missed you…

How are you all going?! We’ve been gone for a little bit, and boy, we’ve missed you dearly. But we’re back, and we’re absolutely stacked with gorgeous tracks by slamming local artists. So much so that we’ve decided to make these bad boys a weekly occurrence, because our artists bloody deserve it. So, in the spirit of celebrating those beautiful creatives, we’re back with another healthy dose of Homegrown Fire for you all, filled with five local artists we’re bumping on repeat. So what are you waiting for?

Check it below.

Milan Ring – ‘Are Your Friends Alright?’

Sydney multi-instrumentalist wonder Milan Ring continues to soothe our souls in the most cathartic way possible with ‘Are Your Friends Alright?’, the track a fierce affirmation of her talents and the endless love she has for her nearest & dearest. The tune sees her flex those heart-healing vocals along with her transcendent production prowess, the resulting bop a reassuring sonic gem that’s impossible to mimic or imitate. It’s a constantly shifting, inter-dimensional entity, one made up of pure stardust. And we guarantee you, no matter how lost or disenfranchised you’re feeling, ‘Are Your Friends Alright?’ will help remind you that you’re not alone, and that who you are truly matters. It’s a beautiful tune from an artist that’s totally uncompromising in her vision. One who continues to deliver pure and refined art that’s vulnerable, empowering and just totally mesmerising. Definitely check it out.

Mariam Sawires – ‘Together’

Sydney sorceress of the divine Mariam Sawires is a shaman in crafting swirling concoctions of heart and clarity, coming through with a meditative masterpiece that’s so deliciously addictive in ‘Together’. Written to her sister Helena, the tune is a gentle & inescapable reminder of the power of connection, a proclamation that makes for truly transformative invigoration. Supported by a gentle beat, mellow keys and some straight up heavenly vocals, the tune engages us in bountiful sonic discovery as we’re thrust into the rush of feelings and emotions that Mariam channels into her art. The tune manages to put you at ease while enthralling you into spiritual springtime, giving us a sneak peak into the creative ventures Mariam embarks on whenever she creates. It’s definitely a tune that deserves to be showered in as much love and adoration as the artist behind it, and really is reflective of how dynamic and promising the Sydney R&B scene is. Definitely check it out.

Cosmos Midnight – ‘Ice’ ft. Stevan

Sydney twins Cosmos Midnight immerse themselves in funkadelic sweetness and emerge in the breeziest of fashions with ‘Ice’, linking up with R&B ponderer Stevan for a slow & sensual ballad that caresses the spirit. The tune messes with all colours in the auditory spectrum, bolstered by a luscious baseline and whimsical synths that take your hand into the moonlight. It listens like the twins and the Wollongong mind milder decided to embark on a surrealist venture into the core of R&B and psychedelia, charging forward with a crazy momentum ordained by the gatekeepers who came before. And that outro. Pat’s vocals flutter in pure ecstasy with those layers of instrumentation, showing off that gorgeous falsetto that he’s been hiding from us for far too long. The track truly becomes its own being towards its end, a totally alive being that doesn’t want to stop blessing us with sonic sweetness. Definitely check it out.

The Terrys – ‘Pesos’

Gerringong’s favourite long-haired yahoos The Terrys are demolishing all in their path with ‘Pesos’, the tune a scorching demonstration in the bubbling rowdiness of youth. Naturally, the track features some head banging guitar lines and punchy AF vocals, burning with endless attitude and IDGAF vibes that are perfectly tailored for a kick-ass pub set. The accompanying video is bloody glorious as well, featuring the very best of Aussie living as the boys get up to everything you’d expect from a couple of Gerringong badasses, all before they link up for a classic band sash that we’re lucky enough to have front row seats to. For a relatively new band, the boys have nailed down a pretty killer sound, and we’re bloody keen to see what they do next. You gotta check them out.

Jessica Jade – ‘You’

Sydney R&B starlet Jessica Jade crafts glittery sunshine that teases us into eternity with ‘You’, serenading us with honey-drenched vocals atop a gorgeous old school beat. The tune sees her continue to serve up signature songwriting with ethereal production, harvesting little electronic inflections to craft a soundscape of intoxication. It’s a tune that would be the ultimate heater for that Friday R&B night at your favourite club (oh how we miss them) as well as one that would be amazing to get in your feels to on a nighttime drive. It’s absolutely divine, and can match whatever mood you’re in, whenever you’re in it. Definitely check it out.
