It’s more than fair to say that J.Cole is an all time OG, becoming one of the hip hop games favourite sons with his mad lyricism and beastly production. Of course, fans across the world have been itching for some hints regarding The Fall Off, his follow up to 2018’s KOD, for some time now, and luckily for us, the North Carolina superstar has come through hard.
While promoting his new line of Pumas with the help of players in the NBA bubble in Orlando, Cole dusted the dust of his keyboard to log into his Twitter account, giving us an update on the progress of The Fall Off as well as revealing the titles of the first two songs – along with their release date.
Writing online, Cole dropped the deets that ‘The Climb Back’ and ‘Lion King On Ice’, which are the first two songs off the album, will both be dropping on July 22 at 10pm (assumably EST). ‘The Climb Back’ is totally produced by Cole, while ‘Lion King On Ice’ features additional production from T-Minus and Jetson. Regarding the state of the album, Cole wrote “No date for the album yet, taking my time, still finishing.”
The Climb Back – produced by me.
Lion King on Ice – produced by J. Cole, T-Minus, and Jetson. First 2 songs from The Fall Off. Dropping tomorrow night 10pm. No date for the album yet, taking my time, still finishing. ❤️🧗🏾♂️🧗🏾♂️🧗🏾♂️ x 🦁🦁🦁 pic.twitter.com/b7h0fowVPp

Even though it looks like we’ll have to wait a bit longer for the project, at least we’ll have ‘The Climb Back’ and ‘Lion King On Ice’ to tide us over until then. No doubt that if they’re anywhere close to the calibre of 2018’s KOD, Cole will have another classic on his hands.
