Hot off announcing his sixth studio album Justice along with the cover art and track list, Justin Bieber has landed himself in some hot water. The drama came after a French electronic duo, coincidentally also named Justice, came across his album artwork, having a less than positive reaction after come to the conclusion that JB stole the logo they’ve used since 2003.
Specifically, Bieber’s cover artwork features a photo of him with the title ‘Justice’ displayed across his body. The ‘T’ in ‘Justice’ is drawn like a cross, which fans probably thought was a shoutout to Bieber’s faith, but also happens to be how the duo have styled their name for years.
Speaking on the alleged theft, Justice’s management said “Bieber’s team emailed us in May of 2020, asking to be looped in with Justice’s graphic designer to discuss a logo. We tried to set up a call between Bieber’s team and our designer, but the call was never completed and the conversation ended there.
“No one ever mentioned an album called Justice or a logo that says ‘Justice.’ The first time we saw anything about it was the announcement.” Their record label also pointed out the similarity in an IG post, which had a photo of the original sketch of the logo with the caption “Ed Banger records appoints Mr Justin Drew Bieber as Art Director. We would like to thank Mr So Me for all his work since 2003.”
Pretty intense. Check out Bieber and Justice’s logos below to see the similarity for yourself.
