It’s a poem which strikes a place close to home for us Australians, celebrating the highly coveted Maccas run. Yes, it’s a poem which take us through all the emotional points of cruising by a Mcdonald’s drive-thru window which we have surely collectively experienced at ludicrous hours of the morning. Kanye rhymes about French fries, good smells, bad salads and food you can’t trust. If that sounds strange as fuck, it’s probably because it is – but that’s just part of the genius, right?
Terri Hickey, a spokesperson for McDonald’s responded to West’s poem in a statement to TIME Magazine that said “We’re lovin’ the love for McDonald’s World Famous Fries and Apple Pies. Like the beef in our burgers our love for our fans’ creativity is 100 percent.”
It seems like Kanye’s ode to the fast food giant is resonating with his fellow contemporary rap colleagues, with New York spitter Joey Badass stepping into Hot 97 to give a truly stirring rendition of the poem. Moving, really. Frank Ocean, who shifted the R&B game with his monumental Channel Orange album back in 2012, recently released the zine at select pop-up locations around the world to accompany his album Blonde. However, due to the endless hype surrounding the record, the zines reportedly been spotted selling on Ebay for up to $1000. Jesus wept.
