The Canadian production lord had the world cheering when he dropped his highly-anticipated album 99.9%, which teamed his brand of intricate production with guests including Chicago emcee Vic Mensa, skyrocketing West Coast star Anderson.Paak and UKG legend Craig David. Now, it’s evident that Kaytranada’s studio work ethic hasn’t slowed down one bit, as he stepped in for a Beats 1 interview with Zane Lowe to share his remix of Rihanna’s ‘Kiss It Better’.
With its oozing guitar solos and sultry music video, ‘Kiss It Better’ is our favourite track from Rihanna’s phenomenal eight album ANTI – and Kaytranda couples the intimacy of the ballad with a higher tempo and warm synths, resulting in a silky smooth dancefloor gem that’s made for late club nights. Rihanna herself has had more than a few excursions into electronica, so it’s no surprise that her vocals work effortlessly on the track.
Speaking on ‘Kiss It Better’, Kaytranada said “I probably had it on repeat, low key I really love the song, but I really wanted to remix it and I had this whole idea… It’s hard to explain in words. I just think about it and then boom.”
