A strange but sick as hell accolade…

Kid Cudi’s latest album Man On The Moon III: The Chosen was absolutely momentous in its build up and release, the third instalment in the beloved trilogy truly living up to the sky-high expectations placed upon it. With its lush track listing and compositional structure, you’d think an album-opener like ‘Beautiful Trip’ wouldn’t get much shine, that it wouldn’t be more than an afterthought. I mean, it’s only 37 seconds long! But it just might end up being one of the biggest tracks on the album, making history as the shortest song to ever place on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

The tune charted on December 26, just making it at No. 100 on the list. It’s a bit confusing as to why it’s getting so much play to be honest. Don’t get me wrong its beautiful and Cudi is a genius, but the track is literally 37 seconds long. Not much happens in it, but it seems to be resonating across the globe.

The tune has beaten out Piko-Taro’s ‘PPAP (Pen-Pineapple-Apple-Pen),’ which was 45 seconds long and reached No. 77 in October if 2016. Thus, the two tunes are the only tracks under a minute to ever make the prestigious chart.

If you have a spare 37 seconds, check out the record-breaking album-opener below.
