What having your craft down looks like…

Been desperate for some uniquely textured psychedelic rock that’ll be rattling around your brain for days on end? Sydney-based Psychedelic outfit Kimono Drag Queens have got you covered with new track ‘Wild Animals’. Premiered on Sydney’s FBi Radio last week, the tune is the second single from their forthcoming debut album Songs Of Worship, which recorded at Parliament Studios by Phan Sjarif.

Harnessing the archaic energy from their 2019 track ‘Hunters’, ‘Wild Animals’ see’s the group double down on their strengths as they deliver an explosion of sounds that span continents, genres and flavours. Drawing elements from psych rock, Tuareg music and 60’s pop, it’s impossible not to get lost in the groove of the track, with its gritty guitar lines, dreamy vocals and noirish lyricism keeping you on the edge of your seat.

The Sydney ensemble’s very own William Wood says that’s by design “Wild Animals is our favourite song to play live, so when it came to choosing a single it felt like it’s the one we most want people to be familiar with so they can hopefully join in on the fun. It’s a little melancholic but also good for grooving”. Who can argue with him, it’s an absolute gem and a real crowd favourite, that will surely be mesmerising punters up and down the East Coast.

A true treasure, there’s no doubt the group have got their craft down, and if Songs Of Worship is filled with tunes anything like ‘Hunters’ or ‘Wild Animals’, there’s no doubt they’ll be dominating the music scene in 2020. Follow them on Facebook and Instagram here.
