‘NOBODY’ featuring E^ST is the second taste of Kwame’s forthcoming third extended play, and serves as a reminder to listen to and take pride in yourself. Out today, the accompanying video clip follows a young Ghanaian boy through troubles, hardship and a life-altering experience: Singled out and attacked, the protagonist is saved by a random group of friends turned active bystanders who rush to his aid and later take him under their collective wing. Can’t nobody tell me no, no more.
Stepping into a director’s role alongside frequent collaborator Zain Ayub, Kwame amplifies his uplifting message with raw visuals. “The choice to shoot the majority of the film in Marrickville reflects its raw texture, sense of realness and celebrates the multicultural background the suburb holds – which is synonymous with the film’s ideologies. The themes explored represent the diffusion of cultural and societal gaps thereby creating a more universal and globalist experience. The messages within the film are that race, age and status shouldn’t matter when one’s back is against the wall.” Watch the short-film below:
And the good news keeps rolling in. Kwame’s ‘Please, Get Home Safe’ Tour kicks off in Melbourne on 28 March and is followed by three more shows in Brisbane, Sydney and Fremantle. Tickets go on sale tomorrow morning at 9am.
