There seems to be no stopping pop superstar Lady Gaga, who, after raising US$35 million for the World Health Organisation’s Solidarity Response Fund, is now curating a virtual music festival called ‘One World Together At Home’. The festival is aimed at uniting the world in the fight against Coronavirus, with artists from all over the world featuring on the star-studded lineup.
Stars who’ll be performing include recent Hottest 100 winner Billie Eilish, Lizzo, Elton John, Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder. The big bash is set to air on 8pm EST on April 18.
To be clear, the festival isn’t actually a fundraiser, but instead a celebration of “the power of the human”. She went on to say “we celebrate and we highlight the singular, kind global community that is arising right now. We want to highlight the gravity of this historical, unprecedented, cultural movement”.
The move comes after Gaga took to Instagram late last month to announce she was delaying the release of her album Chromatica, assuring fans that it would be still released but just later in the year. She also praised healthcare professionals in the post and emphasised the need to get them the equipment they need in the effort to fight COVID-19.
Super cool by Gaga right here, here’s hoping more stars adopt this energy as the crisis unfolds…
