Curated by longtime tastemakers Red Bull and I OH YOU, the latest addition looks to capture the spontaneous energy of Laneway’s early days, with a street party soundtracked by exciting talents, both emerging and established. Laneway co-founder Danny Rogers says that “there was such a creative, magic feeling at the original Laneway Festivals. I think it was because of the spontaneity they had. I wanted to recreate that same feeling at the 2018 event and this idea just made total sense.”
While the Block Party lineups will change over Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Fremantle, some of the acts across the board include eclectic beat-maker Basenji, Elefant Traks emcee B Wise, and Tame Impala frontman Kevin Parker stepping behind the decks for a DJ set.
I OH YOU was spawned through a series of house parties that were thrown in my share house a few years back…I’m not exactly sure how we ended up here, but in many ways it feels like BLOCK PARTY is going to capture the same energy that those initial parties had,”I OH YOU’s Johann Ponniah says
“These line ups have been curated to shine a light on some of our favourite artists around at the moment and specifically ones that we feel carry a very unique energy through their music or track selection.”
