Truth be told, we don’t know a whole heap about Romanie…

What we do know is that time slowed down a little when we started listening to her debut LP Are We There Yet?. The Victorian singer-songwriter moulded the album’s 12 tracks while enduring the lockdowns of the past few years, with the isolation and seemingly fuelling her introspection and craftmanship, resulting in a musical post-lockdown bloom.

“Are We There Yet? is an album about time, going through the motions and moving on,” she says. “Reflecting deeply on myself, my place in this world and my relationship with others – it’s an attempt at grasping the sometimes confusing, yet beautiful chaos we live in. Sonically transforming my thoughts and finding my voice.”

The record features punchy indie rock tracks like ‘Hallucinating’ and ‘Fortune Teller’ and folky numbers like album closer ‘Watch The Tide Go Out (To Love Again)’, but is ultimately grounded with swaying jams allowing Romanie’s vocals and lyrics to sink in as listeners rock side to side.
