VICE reports half of Britain’s clubs have shut down in the past decade, which might remind you of Sydney’s dire nightlife situation and the countless venues that have closed due to the lockout laws.

However, optimists will point out that while licensed venues have shut down, there is a plus side: Kids are going out of their way to make their own parties on their own terms. ‘Locked Off’ is a new documentary from the VICE crew, who delve deep into the underground to explore Britain’s illegal rave scene. It’s gritty, DIY and inspirational – we hope that youth across the world can continue finding new measures to maintain their nightlife. Indeed, Sydney’s had a little Inner-West and warehouse renaissance as of late, and it seems like this will be the way for the foreseeable future.

Watch ‘Locked Off’ here and organise your next kick on, because if this doesn’t make you want to have a shirtless bender, then nothing will:
