London Church Uses Kanye West Quotes Instead Of Bible Passages On Its Signs
All hail Yeezus.

Kanye West raised a few eyebrows when he named his polarising sixth album Yeezus, and he upped the religious vibes with some heavy gospel influence on his recent release The Life of Pablo.

One of his most praised tracks is even named ‘Jesus Walks’, so we guess we shouldn’t be surprised that his lyrics have begun appearing on church signage. St. Andrew’s Cathedral in London has been experimenting with unorthodox signs for awhile, straying away from the usual Bible passages you see outside of holy buildings. The mind behind the unusual move is Terry Keens, a 63-year-old volunteer who hopes that the quotes will become a bigger talking point and entice people to the more relaxed religious setting.

“I love writing the messages on the boards. You walk by churches and they have quotes from the Bible and people don’t take any notice. I like to mix it up, it doesn’t matter who said it, it’s about the meaning behind it,” she said.

Recently, the church has been displaying lyrics from Kanye’s ballad ‘Only One’, as seen below in this photo by Elliot Walsh. Other quotes from Keens include gems of wisdom from Winnie the Pooh, Gandhi, and Spongebob Squarepants. What a legend! With younger demographics falling into the clutches of atheism, heavy metal and general sin, we guess that churches really do need to re-think their approach to get God’s word across. We wouldn’t even mind singing ‘Ultralight Beam’ right next to ‘Behold the Lamb of God’ – hopefully this goes down at St. Andrew’s:
