Already hitting that replay…

After years of delivering dance floor-ready tunes as a part of her electronic duo Yuma X, vocal powerhouse Lucy Washington today begins the next chapter of her musical life, releasing the debut single ‘$25’ from her new solo project Lucy Lucy.

Debuting last night on triple j, the lush new tune sees her swap out the electro kicks and synths of Yuma X tracks like ‘Chasing Patterns’ and ‘What You Want,’ opting for vibrant pianos and buzzy guitar lines that are imbued with a sweet natural vibrance. Vocally she emanates that riveting raspiness we’ve come to love from her over the years, all while embracing her dreamy head voice at various points to ensure we get a full representation of her vocal abilities.

Lyrically the tune sees her sing about having only $25 to her name, yet consistently blowing off work and all responsibilities to spend time with an addictive crush. The concept as a whole is just super wholesome and real, capturing those young loves that make everything else in the world totally not matter. It’s also just sublimely complimented by the various layers of instrumentation that unfurl throughout the track, the former Yuma X front-woman affirming that this next chapter is one of change, innovation and creative liberation.

We’re pretty head over heels for it as you can see, and we have no doubt you will be too. Check out ‘$25’ below, and make sure to keep up with Lucy Lucy on Instagram and Facebook to stay up to date on all of her latest projects.
