As seasoned Sydneysiders, we always seem to get dragged into these weird sledging matches with Melbourne residents.

But all banter aside, the 3000 is pretty damn great: It’s only an hour away, doesn’t have lockout laws, and spawned the immortal Kylie Minogue – as well as some of the best music, art and food that this country has to offer. Now, a taste of Melbourne will be coming up to Sydney for one night only, resulting in a mammoth 15-hour event in the heart of our party district.

‘Melbourne After Dark’ kicks off at 5:00pm on Saturday, November 25 and stretches all the way until 8:00am on Sunday, November 26. It’ll be taking over five levels of the iconic Kings Cross Hotel, with each level representing a different Melbourne precinct and offering a vast array of entertainment for the marathon party. Sounds will be spearheaded by burgeoning Melbourne hip-hop duo Remi & Sensible J, while The Delta Riggs, Midnight Juggernauts, Saskwatch and more will also be performing.

There’ll also be live street art, plus food courtesy of Coda, Tonka and Fancy Hank’s. Your sweet tooth will be catered for by Glacé, and Melbourne-quality coffee from St Ali to wash it all down. There’s a lot to take in, and best of all, entry to all 15 hours of entertainment is free – you just have to register your attendance right here.

Head down to Kings Cross Hotel later this month, and get a taste of Melbourne in Sydney:
