Following a busy 2023 that saw her establish herself as one of the most promising DJs in Sydney, make laps up and down America, and refine her production chops, multi-hyphenated creative Micah Jey is now beginning to show the fruits of her labour in her original works. The latest of which is the ever delightful ‘Honey Be’, which was released in November of last year. An ode to making newfound revelations and accepting herself, the song is a bop that is quintessentially Micah in their silky, but precise execution. And the accompanying visuals (which we’re premiering today) are just as captivating.
Shot on Super 8 film, the clip clocks in at a little over three minutes long and follows Micah on her travels through the US and Mexico. Accompanied by the cutest honey bee toy in existence along with her close friends, the visuals serve as an intimate look into just how cathartic being abroad can be for someone when they themselves are going through the winds of change.
It’s a sentiment most notably apparent when Micah’s sultry vocals internet with shots of the natural world, whether it be the sandy beaches of Mexico or the greenery of Central Park, there’s a real earthiness to the track that helps make it all the more entrancing.
Speaking on the inspiration behind the video, Micah Hey explains “The music video was shot on Super 8 film across New York and Mexico with friends. It a warm, playful approach to embracing change which leads to an internal flourish. It’s the first film I’ve directed and edited and I wanted something that felt like a silly holiday video drenched in nostalgia.’
It’s another lush offering from the ever-growing creative. The visuals for Micah Jey’s latest single ‘Honey Be’ above and be sure to follow her on Instagram here.
