While we’re now well into the month of March, Australian afrobeats artist Mike Akox is looking to stretch summer a litter longer with his sun-soaked single, ‘Love Me.’

The track has already caused a stir online since being uploaded in January, highlighting the vibrancy of Mike’s Ghanian heritage with hip-swinging results. The track was produced by local hip-hop staple Miracle; and while you might recognise his pounding trap beats for Manu Crooks and Travy P, ‘Love Me’ sees him deliver vibrant production that evokes images of orange sunsets and an unmistakable sense of adventurousness. Listen to that percussion!

Meanwhile, Mike picks all the right spots with his versatile delivery, injecting touches of melody but also letting the instrumental breathe during the uplifting hook. What results is a track with undeniable rhythm, a celebratory aura and plenty of replay value.

Appropriately, the accompanying video features plenty of bright colours, the great outdoors, and Mike working the space with a handful of ladies who cut some shapes convincingly. Perhaps his greatest achievement on ‘Love Me’ is creating a track that feels very organic, but still has enough club appeal to be played in a DJ set, preferably on a rammed dancefloor.
