Sydney OG selector Mike Who is throwing another party this Saturday – and he’s teed up Japanese record label Jazzy Sport to bring along their premier talents for a marathon of a show at Cake Wines Cellar Door.

For the past 13 years, Jazzy Sport has been one of Japan’s most influential and eclectic labels for underground heads, while their physical space in Tokyo remains a hotspot for music lovers in the East. Covering huge territory from soulful hip-hop to jazz and funk influences, Jazzy Sport representatives Sauce 81 and Grooveman Spot will be performing at the label’s showcase party in Sydney – as well as joining forces for the first ever 77 Karat Gold live set on Australian soil.

Ahead of the show, Mike Who – who’ll also be performing on the day alongside Tom Studdy, Glen Cassidy and Junya – has run us through some Jazzy Sport essentials to get us hyped for the party. See what Mike had to say below – and given his track record, we’re inclined to say that the man has some supreme taste. Get your tickets to the Jazzy Sport showcase right here:

SAUCE 81 – SIGN OF SECRET LOVE

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y-q3JqQ5akk

Blissed out vibes from Sauce 81 with this mid-tempo burner on Wonderful Noise – As darkness creeps in the Cellar Door tends to get a bit freakier, so nuzzle up close to that Funktion One rig and let this one warm your body. Find me dancing with myself in the corner.

GROOVEMAN SPOT – EVERYBODY FT. ERIK RICO

Lord Grooveman linking up with Erik Rico for this jam of jams. We have given GS the extended DJ set to close out the night, so let’s hope he goes everywhere covering new and old ground.

77 KARAT GOLD – LOVE

What a bloody lovely tune, a ‘let’s all hold hands and have a hug’ end of the night special!

STEVE SPACEK – BABY, BABY

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vKlTllWkZhQ

An under the radar tune released on Jazzy Sport back in 2006, with the don of dons Steve Spacek. We like to claim Spacek as a Sydneysider nowadays, but I truly feel he is criminally slept on out here. Hands down, this is one of the most forward thinking and soulful geniuses in the game. Let’s hope he rolls through on Saturday.

KEITH SWEAT – TWISTED (GROOVEMAN SPOT REMIX)

Find a friend, break out the body rolls – Cellar Door windows might steam up if Grooveman Spot drops this one late enough.
