The band are currently celebrating the ten year anniversary of their debut album Sadnecessary

It seems like just yesterday that German duo Milky Chance were taking the world by storm with their breakout hit ‘Stolen Dance’, the hybrid rock and pop bop striking a chord with the masses for its immersive soundscape and catchy lyrics that the world knows backwards and forwards. Fast forward a whole decade later, and the band have five studio albums under their belt, along with billions of streams and numerous tours around the globe.

Now, they’re gearing up to add another notch to their discography with the release of their forthcoming LP, Living In A Haze (out June 9th). To celebrate the new record, the band have dropped their final single prior to its release in their new song, ‘Purple Tiger’. On the new offering, the band showcase the ease with which they craft catchy indie rock bops, with cascading synths and guitar licks providing a simmering sonic backdrop for frontman Rehbein’s falsetto. His repetition of the line “I wish I was a disco boy” is especially nostalgic, throwing it back to the band’s debut album Sadnecessary from 2013 as he embodies the youthful sense of escapeism that characterised their early releases.

Speaking on ‘Purple Tiger’ and it’s noticeable sense of adventure , the duo explain, “We followed the music and lyrics to create a dreamy, metaphorical world that reminded us of ‘Alice in Wonderland. We took our time to find the right sound, but we’re really happy with how it turned out”.

It’s another solid offering from the German duo that pays tribute to their roots while setting the scene for Living In A Haze. Be sure to buy/stream it here and pre-order the upcoming album here.
