In a shock announcement that no one saw coming, legendary rocker Nick Cave has announced a bunch of shows in Sydney and Melbourne for early next year. And no, before you ask, The Bad Seeds will not be backing Cave on stage. But, he’s bringing a more than worthy replacement, with Radiohead bassist Collin Greenwood slated to be playing alongside Cave at the upcoming batch of shows.
Together, the two will be playing tracks from Cave’s extensive catalogue. Expect to hear beloved solo classics like ‘Red Right Hand’, ‘Rainy Night in Soho’, ‘Cosmic Dancer’ and more. We’re guessing he’ll be sneaking in a few hits with The Bad Seeds as well for good measure of course (if they add some Radiohead tracks to the setlist as well, my head might actually explode).
The shows are set to kick off with two nights at Plenary Melbourne before finishing off at State Theatre Sydney. Speaking on the upcoming dates, Cave said in a statement, “I cannot wait to bring this special show to Australia next year, accompanied by the great Colin Greenwood. It is a privilege to share the songs with an audience in this way – stripped back and unadorned, revealing their essential nature.”
Definitely not a run of shows tour to miss out on. Tickets are available from 10am tomorrow. For now, check out the full list of tour dates below and cop tickets here.
