The collab we didnt know we needed…

Meeting in the middle of their respective worlds of EDM and rock, local legends What So Not and DMA’S have teamed up for a dark but fiery new heater in their latest tune ‘The Change.’ The tune comes after What So Not teased the tune at the most recent iteration of Yours & Owls, inviting DMA’S on stage as they blew punters minds with the unexpected collab.

The latest offering from the pair sees What So Not flex his long-developed production prowess with a drum and bass-inspired slow burn, with melancholic synths crafting a dark soundscape for DMA’s frontman Tommy O’Dell’s vocals. The DMA’S lead singer embraces the full scope of his vocal abilities as well, bouncing between his gritty lower range with chanting vocals as well as full belting during that pounding chorus. The tune also manages to get pretty rocky in the outro, with What So Not stripping the drums and leaving a lone guitar loop as a backing for O’Dell’s vocals, managing to cover a plethora of genres in the four-and-a-half minute run-time.

It’s a proper fire starter that obviously goes off live, fingers crossed we can see the two acts pound out another live rendition of it sometime soon. Check it out below.
