The new album lands October 14th…

Hot 100 alum and homegrown legends Ocean Alley are making waves this Wednesday morning, the Byron-based six-piece returning with a new single ‘Home’ and announcing their new album.

Titled Low Altitude Living, the upcoming record from the band (set to be released on October 14th) is their first full length since 2020’s Lonely Diamond, and comes as the result of rediscovery and reconnection, with a COVID-induced hiatus forcing the road-tested musicians to find their way without gigs and tours. Today’s single, ‘Home’, embodies such sentiments to a ‘T’, with frontman Baden Donegal’s fiery vocals at their most restrained as he sings about finding one’s way home following a life of adventure. As usual, the band ru like a well-oiled machined in the new cut, warbly guitar solos and emotive pianos helping to cement the band’s signature emotional maturity into the sonics.

The accompanying clip furthers the narrative within the lyrics, with the visuals following a hitchhiker make their way from Melbourne to Broken Hill, and all of the sights and revelations they experience along the way. It definitely confirms the idea that the band’s upcoming releases are more focused on the introspective as opposed to the wild and uninhibited like Lost Tropics and Chiarosusco. with guitarist Mitch Galbraith adding, We’ve felt more connected than ever to the people and places that are around us at home. Normally, we’d be spending most of our year away on tour but we felt very lucky to spend the last two years with the people we love.”

It’s no doubt another quality offering from the boys from the beaches. Ocean Alley’s new single ‘Home’ is out now. You can buy/stream it here.
