Getting out of bed at 5am to go and dig some bloody holes? Working for the man? Doesn’t sound like much fun does it? Well it’s not for everyone, and it’s certainly not the type of life folk/rock balladeer Peter Bibby wants, as illustrated in his latest insightful tune, the aptly titled ‘Work For Aresholes.’
“I wrote it to make myself feel better about being a thirsty, unemployed insomniac whilst sitting in my bedroom in Northcote, Victoria. It didn’t make me feel that much better, however I have, for the most part, avoided working for arseholes ever since and I see that as a great success,” Bibby says.

It’s the first track we’ve heard from the Perth-come-Melbourne artist since his track ‘Medicine’ which was released nearly a year ago, and is taken from his long awaited sophomore album Grand Champion. The album is due out September 28th, which according to Bibby, is something of a miracle.
“It was interrupted by a gruelling return trip across the Nullarbor from Perth to Melbourne in a car that would have been better as a storage container, taking two months rather than the expected two weeks. This was only one of many setbacks with the completion of this record however we got there in the end,” Bibby says.
Peter Bibby will be hitting the road for a tour with his ‘Dog Act’ this October, hitting NSW, VIC, TAS, QLD, ACT and WA in the space of 20 or so days. Heck, maybe he doesn’t mind a bit of hard work aye? Tickets and info here.
