Continuing the streak of bad news for the Kardashian/ Jenner family, a petition to remove Kylie Jenner from Cardi B’s new music video has gotten over 60,000 signatures. The music video in question is for Cardi B’s song ‘WAP’ ft. Megan Thee Stallion, which has already clocked over 50 million views on YouTube.
The cameo has Jenner wearing a leopard print unitard and walking down a corridor in slow motion in the middle of the video. All music ceases as the camera follows her down the corridor, looking at a tiger before staring directly into the camera. The appearance ends with Jenner opening a door to a room and disappearing from sight. But even though Jenner’s cameo in the vid is only a couple of seconds long, it’s proving to cause pure outrage among Cardi’s fans. Specifically, fans have taken issue with the Kardashian family in general, who have been previously accused of appropriating black culture numerous times.
Commenters on the petition didn’t hold back, with one person writing “Get the culture vulture Kardashians and Jenners tf outta hur” and another “I was happily enjoying my daily cup of brown women until that culture stealing coloniser showed up and made me spill. Thank you.”
The petition, which reads “The video was perfect until we saw K and I wanted to throw my phone”, already has 61,900 signatures, and is increasing every second. You can check out the music video in question below to see the source of the controversy (Kylie’s cameo starts at around 1:40).
