The Kite String Tangle’s self-titled debut album – which was written, produced and performed by the man himself – earned widespread praise for its pensive take on electronica, and was given further life with a highlight set at Splendour In The Grass. He’s also established his own Exist. Recordings in 2017, signing on burgeoning talents like Golden Vessel and sibling duo Lastlings.

Now, with his own headline tour hitting Australia this October, The Kite String Tangle has been warming up with some high-profile support slots, including London Grammar and several dates alongside Odesza. Having just wrapped up his tour with the latter, The Kite String Tangle has handed us a polaroid diary of his adventures on the road with his live band and Odesza.

Mid rehearsal in Auckland, before the tour even started. I was the only one that brought my glasses so we shared them throughout the trip because we’re all blind.
Busted eating corn chips at practice while somewhere between frantically trying to find Dave’s hired drum kit and my keyboard stands. #tourlyf
Shortly after the ‘handing over of the lanyard’ ceremony. Apparently in the U.S. they refer to them as laminates not the lanyards, kinda makes more sense.
Making the most of our dressing room in Auckland. There was a vegetable platter with raw cauliflower and radish on it. I think it was made by a carnivore.
Recharge mode at the airport lounge heading from Auckland to Melbourne. Not enough of the sleeps. Later I would find out that this became a theme.
Dave (drummer) looking dashing and staying hydrated en route to Melbourne.
Dave flexing his muscles in Melbourne, showing me how swoll he’s become since the start of the tour.
Handstand practice in the greenroom at the Forum to make sure I can still keep singing if I were suspended from the ceiling. Watch this space for the new live show.
If you were able to see TKST from a birds eye view, this is kind of what it’d look like.
Yup, when you’re in show biz you really do get mirrors with lightbulbs all around them for some reason.
Dave’s face after i told him the ending of ‘The Sixth Sense.’
I got a photo with Clay from Odesza after the last show before the night descended into complete chaos. The good kind of chaos, obviously.
Chillin’ with Ben and Liam the morning after the tour ends. It was rough, but I made it through.
