With his sleek anthemic banger ‘Pop It’, which dropped last month, finding its way onto playlists and into ears around the world, it seems like there’s no slowing Tanzanian-born, Australia-based rapper Trilla Venus right now. The track sees Trilla and collaborator Kado Woods serve up fire bars over a hard-hitting beat with a splash of autotune and a chorus that you won’t be able to get out of your head for weeks.
The video clip has some big Matrix vibes with Trilla and Kado dripped out in black trench coats as they spit relentlessly, as director Jack Nielsen pays homage to 90s music videos whilst keeping it extremely fresh. Hell, they even chuck in the whole “you wouldn’t steal a car” pirating video at the start.

We caught up with Trilla to try out the new JBL Xtreme 3 speaker and pump out some of his favourite tracks. Naturally, the heavy bass-heavy playlist sounded straight-up crispy in the LWA studio (we may or may not have got a couple of noise complaints). Trilla shared some thoughts on his playlist which is chock full of club-worthy bops:
“‘Franchise’ by Travis Scott – this song is bonkers. Another highlight is ‘Cactus’ by BEAM, he’s still undiscovered and kinda sounds like Travis Scott. A little different but super fire. ‘Myron’ by Little Uzi Vert it’s a hype beast anthem… and ‘Pop It’ by that guy Trilla Venus, have you heard of him?”
