Tackling existential themes and the current state of the world, garage-rockers The Pinheads have delivered a ballad that will see crowds linking arms, waving lighters, and maybe even shedding a few tears on their upcoming national tour. Well, that’s the kind of reaction we’re imagining punters (ourselves included) having to their latest tune ‘Is This Real’.
The clip, which was directed by James Kates and William Robertson, is a suckerpunch straight to the heart as well. Following drummer James “Jimbo” Kates’ Nonno, we go on a nostalgic journey through the streets of Warrawong, NSW, and into the life of Jimbo’s Nonno who is mourning the death of his wife of 60-plus years.
“If anything it’s a reminder to myself that we’re all going to die sooner or later, so appreciate what’s in front of you, live your life and treat people right,” Jimbo says of the tune.
