Having last arrived Down Under on a festival run in 2014, the upcoming dates will also mark Placebo’s first Australian headline tour in 11 years. Still, fans are set to be rewarded for their patience, with Placebo set to play material spanning their entire catalogue – including fan favourites and songs that have been largely discarded from the band’s live shows. That has been promised by frontman Brian Molko himself, who stresses that this is very much an experience for the fans.
“We’re happy to be coming back to Australia this September to deliver fans something extra special. Let’s just say there will be songs in the set that I’ve sworn never to play again… This tour is very much for the fans and a chance for us to revisit a lot of our early material,” Molko said.
“So, if you want to see us play songs like ‘Pure Morning’ and ‘Nancy Boy’ which we haven’t played in almost ten years and may not play again, then you’d better come along to these shows! We’ll have some surprises in there too,” he continued.
The prospect of swaying gently to ‘Pure Morning’ live while wearing runny mascara fills us with lots of happiness and even more sadness. This is going to be nice. Furthermore, this tour is rekindling our memories of how much of a bloody GOAT Sarah Michelle Gellar was. Tickets go on sale from 12:00pm, local time on Monday May 29 via Ticketek. Dates below:
