The events will revive one of Haymarket’s abandoned cinemas…

The folks behind Summer Camp Festival have today (September 5) announced Pleasures Playhouse, a new 6-weeks arts and entertainment festival held in an abandoned cinema in Haymarket. The inaugural program for Pleasures Playhouse features 35 individual parties ranging from live music gigs to dining experiences, and kicks off on Thursday, September 22.

Fronting the program’s music lineup is singer-songwriter Alex Lahey, who’ll play a live show at the abandoned Harbour City Cinema alongside a swathe of additional acts, each hosting their own performance on different nights of the festival. Elsewhere, Pleasures Playhouse will see gigs from Broods, Haiku Hands, Donny Benet and Diola, among many others. In addition to music, the program boasts a range of stand up comedy gigs, arthouse movie screenings and food pop-ups delivered by local restaurants.

P&V Merchants and Archie Rose Distilling Co. will man the festival’s drinks menu, offering curated natural wines and standalone bars respectively. Tickets to the festival — which runs until Monday, October 31 — are available now via Pleasures Playhouse’s website here. No tickets go beyond $30, with some experiences coming free of charge.
