With David Bowie’s death leaving a enormous hole in the world of music, it’s tracks like POND’s ‘Burnt Out Star’ that remind us life goes on.

Having hardly released any new music since their 2017 album The Weather, we could be forgiven for getting a little impatient with Aussie psych-rockers POND. Endless touring around Europe and the US, between various projects has meant that it’s probably been a little difficult for the group to find the time to get into the studio, however, we now (finally) have a new track in ‘Burnt Out Star.’

Having heard from them since the release of their b-side, ‘Fire In The Water’ six months ago, the group has made up for lost time with eight minutes of psychedelic joy that sounds something like if the Gorillaz and Queen made a musical baby. There’s loads of ballady build up and plenty off electronic beats.

The track comes with an announcement that POND will be hitting the road for an extensive American and North-American tour this October and November, starting with the Desert Daze festival (which has a stacked lineup ICYMI). No word on when the guys will be headed back home for shows yet, so stay tuned.
