Gotta admit, we’re still coming down from the Newcastle/Mulubinba artist’s debut LP, Dream Obscura. On that album the travelling circus performer (true story) established his sound as this melding of psych, pop and a splash of funk – kind of like if Mr Bungle took shrooms… or maybe more shrooms.
Recently the enigmatic performer returned with disco jam ‘The Getaway’ which quickly reminded us of his elastic performing style and knack for writing a hook that will swirl around in your mind long after your body has collapsed from dance-related exhaustion.
Today we’re premiering the video for ‘Dynamite Daddy’, which has this early 2000s indie rock feel with a chorus you could imagine The Presets shedding happy tears over. It’s maybe the most “rocky” of his tunes, and the visuals (directed by Banquet Darling himself and filmed by Making Waves Media) — well, you’ll understand what a dynamite daddy is after you watch it:

On a side note, we will be starting a public petition to get Banquet Darling to do a nationwide tour – just think about what someone with a background in circus would do with these songs on stage!! Stay tuned.
