Have you ever wanted to be enveloped by lush sonics that put you in a total state of zen? The type that hold you close and tight, curing you of any ailments that plague your being? If so, keep reading, as Sydney producer Beso Palma (real name Pat Byrne) is a master in the art of auditory healing, and he’s spreading the warmth with his latest single ‘Better’, out today.
The tune listens like a completely alive and multi-dimensional entity, constantly changing shape and mood in the most unpredictable of fashions. But still gorgeous, still serenading us with the cathartic comfortability you’d get from a childhood lullaby or hymn. From soulful vocals and harmonies to wavy synths and basslines, there are so many cogs and wheels turning throughout the track, but they never clash. They work together in beautiful unison to completely engulf you, and by the time you get to that hook, you’re totally entranced by Beso’s digital embrace. And no cap, but home boy has some killer vocal cords. It wouldn’t matter what vocalist offered to jump on the track, Beso elevates it to a place that only he can, and it’s dope to see him take his destiny into his hands like this from the jump.
Opening up on the inspiration behind the tune, Beso gets real about his life and what he needs in 2020, saying “I wanted to capture the feeling of accepting that the timing of the relationship wasn’t right for me and knowing that there was someone ‘better’ out there for that person at that present time. The last thing I wanted to do was resent the relationship.”
The tune touches upon all the emotions in the spiritual bracket, playing with our collective moods as we go from feeling sombre to grateful to sad and just totally inspired. It’s a complete snapshot of the rollercoaster of feelings you get when you break it off with a lover, proving that the producer-extraordinaire isn’t afraid to be daring with his lyrical and sonic creations. He definitely hits the mark with ‘Better’, and clearly has a huge future ahead of him. And the best part is, you can tell he knows it, which makes the whole project so much better. A self-fulfilling prophecy of the most exciting kind, we can’t wait to see what he does next. Be sure to follow him on Instagram and Facebook to stay up to date on all of his latest projects.
