You may recall F₹ANK AKA Joanna Frank from her debut single ‘Across Pleasure’ which came out late 2018 and introduced us to her brand of sultry, beat heavy electro, that cohesively bridges the gap between visual art and musical expression. Today the Chennai-born Sydney-raised producer is once again melding big drums, huge vocal hooks, and Eastern-flavoured melodies masterfully with ‘TV Drama’.
Hitting us with some heavy industrial synths, before luring us in with some breathy verses, she unleashes a bridge with layered vocals that will be running around in your head for days to come. It’s got us more than excited for what else she has in store for us, with her debut EP due out later in the year.
“‘TV Drama’ is a song about rising up. There’s a lot of shit out there to bring you down that can send you straight into that negative headspace, getting out of that fog can be really difficult,” she says of the song. “Sometimes it’s just as simple as making a conscious decision to change the channel. When you make that decision it’s empowering.”
