Fire up your Sega Genesis consoles, because Sonic The Hedgehog is back in rap form.

Over the past few months, Kwame has proven himself to be one of Sydney’s most energetic and lively emcees, and we’ve been keeping a close eye on him ever since he spat that onstage freestyle at ASAP Ferg’s Sydney show back in October. Since then, he’s rapped live at The Wall – confidently out-hyping the DJ sets and causing pure dancefloor mayhem – as well as sets with his Savour The Rations collective, and a debut EP in Lesson Learned.

Today, Kwame releases a playful and animated new track called ‘Sonic Dash’ which takes samples and sound bites from the Sega icon in all of his blue glory. On top of producing the track and spitting a verse, he’s also recruited Phil Fresh (aka Tupac’s Tongan doppleganger) and Sweat (aka Sydney’s Number. 1 male model) from Mozaick Records, the creative clique who’ve thrown some bustling parties out in the suburbs and fostered plenty of emerging beat-based talents.

It’s a slice of cheeky rap bravado that’ll take you back to your button-mashing days – have a listen to Kwame, Phil Fresh and Sweat link up below, where you’ll also find the A++++ cover art. Pow:
