Got us in the palm of her hand…

Bathing in the fire of connection and mood, Sydney singer-songwriter Nicole Millar has come through with a gorgeously-lush new tune ‘4U’, and an accompanying music video that’s every bit as entrancing as you’d expect. It’s a straight up sublime meditation on the feelings of longing and loyalty, with Millar’s irresistible vocals fitting the luminous beat with total ease. Following December’s ‘Favours’ and Aprils ‘I should probably go to therapy’, ‘4U’ sees Nicole continue her departure from the indie-pop bops that helped launch her career, instead exploring the creative liberation associated with growth and self-belief.

Filming the clip for the tune with her laptop and phone camera, the result is a proper DIY triumph that more than captures the restlessness associated with lockdown. Except, Nicole makes it a thousand times more fun, gorgeous and magical, experimenting with various looks (which are all straight fire) with numerous cuts to the natural world peppered throughout. Infusing the monotony that defined life in the lockdown era with a pinch of her own enchantment, Miller more than proves she’s a creative force, and it’s clear that the song and video are a true testament to the purity of self-expression.

Opening up on the rebirth, Millar explains “To make a sonic departure from the feel-good indie-pop I was recognised for, required a heightened level of self-confidence that comes with age and experience. Now, I feel I can be more candid, tread down pathways that were previously closed off to me, and feed those latent curiosities by exploring the creative intersection of music, culture and sexuality in my new audio and visual output.”

It’s safe to say we absolutely adore this creative energy, and are beyond keen to see what she blesses us with next. If you’re just as entranced as we are, you should definitely follow Nicole on Instagram and Facebook to keep up to date on all of her latest creative ventures (which will no doubt continue to be every bit as beautiful and wondrous as ‘4U’).
