Fresh off the release of his recent single ‘Juice’ featuring Paloma, KNOE follows things up with another smooth number.

Where ‘Juice’ offered a cruisy listen laced with infectious vocals, ‘Kinetic’ flaunts the rappers lyrical prowess in a different arena over eerie production. Inspired by the sample-based sounds of New York hip hop, both tracks come with the same approach as like a wolf in sheep’s clothing, KNOE’s razor sharp wordplay is disguised by its smooth delivery. A reflective track, he likens ‘Kinetic’ to, “a trailer for a Scorsese film, except in this movie you get to choose the ending. The lyrics are just snippets from my life.”

In communicating those snippets, KNOE’s buttery flow borders on a drawl at times as he chops up family dynamics, ambitions, rap politics and pays homage to his underground idols and peers, all while effortlessly showing off an elite rap vocabulary. He said: “The original sample is Italian, I think. The fact YoYo Lu could flip the sample three times in one song so effortlessly was crazy to me. It just seemed right for me to come in on the track lazy with a braggadocious attitude. I’m also a complete hip hop nerd and into some wild underground artists. I guess you can say Kinetic is also a respectful salute to the grimy rap I listen to.”

KNOE’s forthcoming Reasons EP is slated for release next month and if it’s anything like what we’ve been treated to so far, there’s plenty to look forward to. In the mean time, you can listen to his new single ‘Kinetic’ below.
