Vetta Borne is the brainchild of songwriter, singer and producer Maribelle and she is now one of the most exciting fresh acts of the Melbourne scene. She quickly won us over with her recent debut single, ‘Hey’, which electrified our radios with contagious, sensual funk. And now Vetta is reigniting the spark in our sound systems with her latest track.
‘R.I.P’ gives us the same soulful rhythm that we lived for in her debut single, but this time Vetta is making us swoon with her honey-sweet vocals. This is a song for the dreamers and dancers, perfectly balancing ethereal chords with that of bouncy bass and melodic guitar. Vetta is also giving us reason to love. Lyrically, her music voices the magic that comes with crash-heavy passion. She has us melting into a love-sick fantasia. This comes as no surprise, Maribelle is blessed, not only as a multi-instrumentalist but also as a talented producer. She knows how to conjure up the most delicious sounds that have us hitting repeat, repeat, repeat.
But what makes Vetta a true artist is her casual ability to capture the mood of life’s most tender, intimate snapshots. Maribelle further explains the nature of these moments in her own words, sharing her inspiration for the new single, “I wrote ‘R.I.P’ when I started falling in love for the second time in my life. It was a feeling I never thought I would experience again. It took me an hour to write and produce the idea because I was capturing exactly how I felt in the moment, like I was in a dream.”
That’s not all, there’s even more electric dreaming ahead. Vetta will be releasing her debut mixtape, Violeta, in February 2020. If it’s anything like her singles, this mixtape is going to deliver an artful soundscape, giving us all the groovy lyricism that we’ve come to admire from her.
Vetta Borne’s narration on love is set to be a glossy Summer anthem, keeping us aglow all season long.
