After introducing himself to the world with debut single ‘Shleepin’ earlier this year, Xavier Mayne is back with another slick effort in ‘Understand It.’

Since that first release, Xavier Mayne has already accumulated an impressive presence on the triple j Unearthed charts and Spotify, and looks to consolidate his position with ‘Understand It’ featuring Goon Des Garcons* & Jay Cooper. Despite his background in indie/rock, Xavier Mayne dives headfirst into nocturnal R&B with his latest track, delivering the sort of sounds that’d be appropriate for a late night drive or the club dancefloor.

Xavier Mayne describes his latest musical venture as an “acceptance of all my greatness, and all my shortcomings.” As a result, ‘Understand It’ finds him heading down a darker path to discuss the intertwined relationship between his romances and substance abuse. “The whole story of the song is the misunderstanding of intentions and the ever-changing levels of sexual tension and emotional attachment between two people as their relationship progresses,” he says. “Xanax was a form of escape from the anxieties.”
