Hopefully Australia is just as lucky…
With Barcelona festival Primavera Sound being cancelled this year due to, you guessed it, the COVID-19 crisis, organisers are wasting little time pulling together next year’s lineup, and it’s absolutely amazing.
Artists from this years lineup such as Tyler, the Creator, Young Thug, Brockhampton, Earl Sweatshirt, King Krule, Beck, Iggy Pop, Freddie Gibbs and Madlib, Little Simz, Rapsody and more will all carry over to next years, while other artists such as Tame Impala, Gorillaz, FKA twigs, Jamie xx, Charli XCX, Jorja Smith, and more have been added to the lineup.
We know this is Barcelona so it doesn’t really affect us, especially since international travel will most likely still be out of the question, but it still gives us Aussie festival goers hope. Hope that, for one thing, we’ll even be able to have festivals next year, especially since our numbers of COVID-19 are drastically lower than Spain’s, and secondly, we’ll be able to pull lineups of amazing quality after all of this is over.
Time will tell, but no doubt that if festival organisers are starting to organise lineups for festivals in 2021, we can glean a tiny bit of optimism as a result.
