The Perth psych lords take a moment out from conquering the world to tell us about their favourite shows.

Selling out shows in Australia, Europe, and The States, amassing millions of streams, as well as curating their own festival, you could forgive the members of Psychedelic Porn Crumpets for not having taken the time to reflect on the past couple of years. Their latest single ‘Bill’s Mandolin’ an example of why they’re in such hot demand, with their brand of wailing guitars, heavy rhythms, and off-the-wall lyricism hitting all the right notes with fans around the world.

With only a couple of weeks left to wait until the release their highly-anticipated third album, And Now For The Whatchamacallit, we caught up with the guys to find out about some of the best shows they’ve played over the past year or so – it’s a good list to check out now, as we feel like their gigs will only get bigger in coming years. Head here to pre-order And Now For The Whatchamacallit, and check out dates for their June national tour below (tickets here):

1. Supporting Nothing But Thieves @ The Forum, Melbourne

“The Forum is definitely the most beautiful venue we have ever played and it makes the cut as one of my favourite gigs for the architecture alone. The stage sits underneath a faux night sky ceiling surrounded by statues that makes you feel like you’re playing at a castle or in a colosseum. We played this venue when we toured with Nothing But Thieves,” Danny says.

2. The Teragram Ballroom, Los Angeles

“Playing the Teragram Ballroom in L.A during our first American tour was a huge moment for us. It was toward the end of the tour and was gratifying to find so many fans coming out to support us. One amazing fan even delivered artisan doughnuts backstage. It was also a huge pleasure to celebrate with our support band Frankie and the Witch Fingers in their home town,” Danny says

3. Supporting Royal Blood @ The Hordern Pavillion, Sydney

“Last year we supported Royal Blood alongside mates Polish Club. Like total amateurs we made the most of the insane catering directly before playing the most frighteningly large rooms we’ve ever played. Hordern Pavilion was the first gig of the run and it was amazing to hear ourselves through such a huge system. The night finished in standard Sydney fashion – first to Frankie’s Pizza and then to post-lockout kick ons in Surry Hills,” Danny says.

4. Yours & Owls Festival, Wollongong

“Yours and Owls Festival, Wollongong on AFL Grand Final day. West Coast vs Collingwood. I’ve never missed a GF – we went on stage with about 5 minutes to go in the game – you can see the joy once the stage crew told me West Coast won,” Luke R says.

5. Dr Noggin Floggin & My Liquid Friends Festival, Perth

“Another favourite was our very own festival Dr Noggin Floggin and the Liquid Friends. I love that gig because we get to spend the whole day watching our favourite local bands and see how talented the scene is in Perth. Then we get to play at the end of the night with all our friends and family there – there’s just something special about it. Ariel Pink would enjoy it,” Luke P says.
