Sad times…

It’s not uncommon for interest in an artist to increase dramatically after their passing, with artists like Lil Peep, XXXTentacion and more recently Juice Wrld experiencing large spikes in streams after their untimely deaths. With 20 year old rapper Pop Smoke passing away just the other day (RIP), his streams have spiked from 5 million to 24.7 million, with songs like ‘Dior’ increasing by 467 percent and ‘Better Have Your Gun’ increasing by 783 percent.

Digital sales increased as well, with digital downloads of his songs increasing by 984 percent the day of his death, while his album sales increased by 12, 179 percent.

The young rapper was signed to Victor Victor Worldwide. In 2019 he released his debut mixtape Meet The Woo which featured the lead single ‘Welcome to the Party’, which was made into two remixes featuring Nicki Minaj and Skepta. He died due to a gunshot wound to the torso after being shot in a home invasion in the Hollywood Hills. He was 20 years old.
