After releasing his eponymous album via Warp Records in November this year (his seventh), much praised Berlin-based producer Chris Clark is a welcome addition to the RBMA Club Nights program, kicking off a national tour on January 16 in Brisbane, followed by dates in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and wrapping up in Perth on January 25.
With a thirteen-year back catalogue that has seen the constantly reinventing artist travel between hip hop, techno, post-rock, electro and ambient disciplines, Clark returned triumphantly this year with his self-titled, critically acclaimed album release. The Clark LP focuses on the real world element versus the machine, sculpting sounds into a kaleidoscopic journey through a foundation of rich phonic layers, that are at times just as much suited for meditation as for a club setting.
With the likes of Pitchfork describing Clark’s majestic cinematic trip as “a kind of headphone IMAX experience”, it will be exciting to see this ever-morphing musician translate his eclectic, dynamic and often dramatic works of art into a live show setting.
To get in on this Academy adventure, all you have to do is RSVP for free entry and let Clark’s man-versus-machine model bend your brainwaves and push your auditory perception into a new place.
