No doubt that BPM is an incredibly important part of music, the magic number literally setting the tempo for a song and giving music lovers an automatic idea of what to expect. Whether it be slow dancing, shuffling, gabbering or even doing the Carlton, BPMs are responsible for some of the greatest moments in music history. Now, researchers in the UK have done a bit of digging in regards to the nature of BPM, specifically, which is the most sexy.
Their results found that 119 BPM is objectively the sexiest, with, no surprises here, The Weekend taking the cake for the majority of sexy songs identified by researchers. Along with him, R&B megastars Ty Dolla $ign & Bryson Tiller also have numerous songs around the 119 sweet spot.
Regarding EDM, Flume’s ‘Never Be Like You’ ft. Kai sits around the 119 mark, which explains why it’s so damn beautiful all these years later. We’re not saying that if you just have a song at 119 BPM it’s gonna be automatically sexy however. You still gotta work to make the track beautiful in its own right, whether it be through mad vocals, baselines or synths, the BPM itself is only a piece of the pie folks.
