The Rihanna drought is in the rear-view.

Rihanna sure likes a surprise. After yesterday taking to Instagram to tease her first new music in six years, Rihanna has followed through today with the release of ‘Lift Me Up’. The track will feature as part of the Black Panther 2 soundtrack and is thought to be a tribute to the film’s late actor, Chadwick Boseman, who passed away in 2020. ‘Lift Me Up’ follows on from Rihanna’s eighth studio album, ANTI, released in 2016.

It comes after the NFL recently confirmed that Rihanna would headline the Super Bowl halftime show in 2023, amid reports that she will also be embarking on a stadium tour next year.

Rihanna has long been dropping hints of a new album, which she originally confirmed for release in 2019. Of course, no such album came to pass and she has been quiet on a musical front for some time now, leaving fans wondering exactly when they’d be receiving new music from RiRi. Fortunately, it seems that day has finally arrived.
